On Friday 27 November 2015, Singleton Public School’s Aboriginal Cultural Group went on our first excursion:
We travelled by bus to Milbrodale!
We got off the bus and met Uncle Paul, Uncle Justin, Uncle Bob, Uncle Dave and Uncle Baz.
Anigunya (Hello)!
It was the start of an adventure!
We went on a bush walk…
…through paddocks, hills and mountains.
We held a traditional smoking ceremony.
We walked through the smoke to clean our spirits.
We gathered in a yarning circle and talked about Baiame and Mother Earth.
Uncle Phil sang out to Baiame in our language asking permission to visit.
We walked up the stairs and into Baiame’s cave.

We listened to Dreamtime stories.
We watched traditional Aboriginal dances.
We painted up!
We received a handmade gift from Uncle Baz.
We walked back down from the cave.
We got ready to do the Emu Dance.
The Emu Dance
We danced…
and danced some more…
…then said goodbye.
